In 2018, we took ownership of a dementia care home, The Cottage and now we are well versed and skilled at caring for people living with dementia.
After discussions with our advisors and Counties Manukau District Health Board, we agreed that there is insufficient dementia care in East Auckland, especially as there is none in Pakuranga. After much thought and some trepidation Linda and Allan decided to change the service provided at The Villa from rest home level of care to dementia care.
The character of The Villa allows residents to enjoy the style of yesteryear and the surroundings, inside and out, are conducive to providing areas and walking paths especially suitable for dementia care. It has been a busy time significantly altering The Villa and we are excited to provide this much-needed community service to the people in and around Pakuranga.
