Some of our recent activities have included:
• Painting, drawing and arts and crafts;
• Visits from local musicians;
• Light gardening, including planting strawberries and growing our herb garden;
• Visits from community groups, like Girl Guiding NZ / Brownies and local church groups;

We encourage our residents to participate in these activities, which help to keep our resident’s minds active and stimulated, however participation is entirely their choice.

When should you consider aged or dementia care?

Dementia will significantly affect a person’s ability to live independently as it progresses, impacting memory, thinking, and daily functioning. In the early stages, your loved one may only experience mild forgetfulness or confusion, such as misplacing items or missing appointments.

However, as dementia advances, tasks become increasingly difficult to manage without dedicated support.

Over time, dementia affects not only practical independence but also emotional wellbeing. Many individuals experience frustration, anxiety or isolation as they lose confidence in their abilities. Professional support, home care services, and a safe, structured environment can help maintain independence for as long as possible.
