Technology magic during lockdown

February 18, 2021
Older person and caregiver using tablet

Aroha at The Manor could have a virtual face-to-face chat with family during lockdown.

Visitors are such an important part of daily life for residents and when New Zealand has been in lockdown and families couldn’t pop in for a chat – Ambridge Rose was quick to respond.
Technology used by people all over the globe was introduced to Ambridge Rose and residents could experience family-time with Zoom calls on our tablets. Aroha was intrigued to see herself and her daughter on a tablet – to have a virtual visit, with her daughter who lives across the Tasman Sea.

At The Villa, our activity assistant Josephine made a kind gesture and came to work during her own time to help a resident see his daughter-in-law’s funeral service.

Technology definitely doesn’t replace human contact, but it is a great way to fill the gap when we can’t all be together in one place, for many different reasons.
