Ben Rocks at Ambridge Rose
Something magical happens when our friendly entertainer pops into The Cottage for a sing-along. Ben the music man knows all the old tunes that draw everyone into the lounge for an hour of fun.
He has visited Ambridge Rose for more than three years, and knows the songs that get people up dancing, singing and creating a band with their own instruments.
Jimmy is a long-time fan and always accompanies Ben with makeshift drums, a tambourine or shaker, while Alan joins in with everything – air guitar, percussion and dancing. It’s wonderful to see Aloma, Efati and Tuu performing some of their Pasifika moves, and music-lover Amrita discreetly clicks her fingers in time to Ben’s music.
Pōkarekare Ana is a Kiwi favourite and almost everyone at The Cottage knows the words and sings with Ben.
Music enriches the lives of everyone. It can lift our mood and give our lungs and legs a good work out when we sing and dance. At every life stage, from the tiniest baby to the frailest older person – music plays a beneficial role in our well-being.
Ben the music man plays at all Ambridge Rose homes and everyone is welcome to come along to have some fun, sing some tunes from the good old days. You will definitely know the words.
